Ghost'n Goblin [EU] freezes after starting CW Cheat

The game Ultimate Ghost'n Goblins [Euro Version] freezes when i activate CW Cheat.
What could be the problem? The US version does this, too, i believe.

There are cheats in the list, so i guess this cheats work on some kind of way.

Please help!

Do you mean, i have to configure the key-combinations starting CW at the game main menu or game title screen menu?
