Secondo alcune insistenti voci di corridoio, sembra che Sony stia pianificando di introdurre un servizio per i consumatori chiamato PlayStation Home per la sua nuova console PS3.
Il blog Kotaku (attualmente messo in lista nera da SCEA per aver postato questo rumour), ha riportato alcune notizie chiave secondo cui il sopracitato servizio possa fungere per PS3 come i Mii per il Wii. Si tratterebbe dunque di una sorta di personalizzazione della console in maniera tale da rendere disponibili diversi avatar e stanze virtuali.
Kotaku ha inoltre riportato che, dopo aver completato le missioni dei vari giochi o dopo aver finito un gioco completo, è possibile ricevere degli oggetti e altri extra per decorare le proprie stanze virtuali e per personalizzare i propri avatar. Sembra dunque che Sony, sempre stando alle parole riportate da Kotaku, voglia unire il servizio dei MS Points di Microsoft - guadagnabili sblocando risultati con i vari giochi per Xbox 360 - alla trovata dei Mii di Nintendo.
Phil Harrison di Sony è atteso al Game Developers Conference per la prossima settimana. Se Playstation Home dovesse essere realtà e non soltanto una voce di corridoio, in occasione della conferenza verrebbe sicuramente reso noto.

Probabile, però se vedi in homepage la news sul GDC ci dovrebbe essere anche altra carne al fuoco, si spera.

New York Times ha confermato l'esistenza di Play Station Home che dovrebbe essere la controparte Sony ad Xbox Live di Microsoft.

Infatti, questa unificherà tutti i server online dei giochi PS3 che usufruiranno della funzione Live, offrendo anche molti spunti da Community, come la possibilità di condivedere contenuti personali con altri utenti e avere Obiettivi e Virtual Avatar corrispettivi agli Achivement di Xbox Live e ai Mii di Nintendo Wii.

Il servizio dovrebbe essere gratuito, attendiamo la conferma ufficiale che arriverebbe tra poche ore alla conferenza di Phil Harrison al GDC.

So, how does it work?

- Play the game, learn the skills and then find your own way to play. There isn’t a set solution to anything – you live LittleBigPlanet however you want to.
- Create your own content – customize your character and build your own locations. You have the power to rearrange anything in this unbelievably tactile landscape.
- Build, move, create, collaborate – then share content with friends or publicly by inviting the whole world to come and visit your own location on LittleBigPlanet.

Key features:

• There’s not just one way to play. Players craft their own individual experience
• Unlimited possibilities for user-created content – players can customize everything: their characters, the landscape around them and their own patch on LittleBigPlanet
• Players discover and win new skills and items to aid them on their creative journey
• Initial levels will be provided – endless others will be user-generated on a global scale. LittleBigPlanet will change every day as players contribute their own levels
• Online and offline multiplayer modes – play alone, work as a team or get competitive
• LittleBigPlanet global community for players to get involved with: includes player comments, rankings and easy communication with new and existing friends

A demo of LittleBigPlanet for PS3 is slated for the PLAYSTATION Network this fall. The full version will follow in early 2008.

dovete assolutamente vedere il video! altro che mii sto home è davvero un the sims, è un mondo virtuale! con i vostri amici potete riunirvi in una stanza e chattare uscire di "casa" e andare in salagiochi a giocare agli old videogames o a biliardo (come in gta sa) andare al cinema e guardavi i trailer dei film e tantissime altre cose!!! mamma mia mi devo ricredere pensavo fosse una cagata invece hanno fatto una cosa carinissima!!!!
