Final Fantasy IX save help
I downloaded a DexDrive save off gamefaqs and converted it to ePSXe(*.mcr). I placed the file in X:/seplugins/cwcheat/mc then i started the game (Final Fantasy 9). I held the select button then went to Manage Memory Cards. This is where i got confused, what do I do? I saved memory card 1 to memory stick, then loaded Memory card 1 from memory stick, but when i tried to load the save, it said "No FF9 save data." I did it again but instead of memory card 1, I used memory card 2 and the same thing happend. I loaded both memory card slots on the continue screen. What did I do wrong?
Version - 3.71 M33-3 Opps....I accidently made two threads when i tried to edit =.= Ultima modifica di newbie461 : 19th January 2008 alle ore 00:34. Motivo: Explaining why I made 2 threads |

i think you overwrote the card... if the first thing you did in CWCheat was "I saved memory card 1 to memory stick"
the first action should've been LOAD from memory stick. try again, put the converted file on the stick, load the game, go to cwcheat into memory card manager, and load FROM memory stick. then try loading the game. |

so i just did a test with Star Ocean The Second Story...
you can load the dex file directly. name the file SLUS_01251-0.gme (if you name it SLUS_01251-1.gme you have to hit the right direction key...)... SLUS_01251 is the ID for FF9, not SO. for SO, you play the game, load a regular game... then go to load the memory card, when loading the save data, hit the R button, it'll allow you to load .gme files... the only issue is... as in the case of SO... you HAVE to be able to load a save file from WITHIN an already loaded game (or new game). i don't recall the FF games being able to do that. edit: oooohhhh... for SO... you can do an in-game reset (hit home, then "reset game")... it picked up the save data... i wonder, if it saved the loaded memory card into the psp save data. edit again: nope... it didn't save the data... so that means in order to pick up CWCheat loaded memory cards, you have to do an in-game reset... at least that is the case with SO. it seems that simply putting the cwcheat mem card doesn't let the "console" pick up... you have to do something so that the emu checks "memory cards." well i tried to load the file while the game was checking for saves, it still didnt detect it. im not quiet sure on what you mean by that last part.
Edit --- well i decided to try out some cheats for FF9. i feel kind of stupid being oblivious to the fact that CWcheats offered....well...cheats =.= when the cheats are activated, the game seems to freeze at the exp screen when you win the battle, it unfreezes when i turn off the cheats, but then that means i have to turn them on and off after every battle. is there a way to avoid this problem? Also when i use the cheats for Ace Combat X, the game freezes and i'm forced to turn off my PSP. sorry for my ignorance on this subject x.x Ultima modifica di newbie461 : 19th January 2008 alle ore 09:15. |

go into the game... then the cwcheat memory card manager, load the memory card... hit the home key to bring up the pops menu, the one with the "reset game" option... reset the game and hopefully the game will pick up the modified save file.
you don't load the file WHILE it is checking, just load it BEFORE it checks... the emulator loads the save data when you start the eboot... but doesn't do anything to the save data after that... from there, the game doesn't access the save data directly, but instead it accesses a COPY in ram... however from the inital start up to the time you can access a "load game" menu... it doesn't recheck ram... instead it depends on the inital load... it has ANOTHER copy somewhere else in ram too. put in more simple terms... there are a BUNCH of copies of the "save data" each level is accessed at different times. doing an in-game reset is enough for the game itself to see the data you loaded through CWCheat memory manager. however the opposite, saving data is immediate... the emulator updates the psp save data if data is saved. edit: as for the cheats not working... i've learned that for my copy of SO... none of the cheats in the cheatpops.db file work... the all item cheat flatout locks up the game. my guess is the cheats were copied from the other cheat devices like gameshark for PS... and not double checked. it's that or my version of SO (which is a multi-disc combined eboot) is slightly different in ram... but i'm more inclined to believe the former. edit again: correction, two cheats do work for SO... all voices cheats (one for the audio file, one for the little picture) Ultima modifica di Goobers : 19th January 2008 alle ore 10:24. |

i figured this is worth a seperate post...
i just tried it with FFIX... i used popstation_md, actually, i used RS-GUI PopStationMD... to make a single 1.76 GB eboot.pbp file of all four CDs. CFW 3.80m33-4 with the "2nd update" of popsloader... loaded the game in pops 3.71 (hold R just before starting the game until you see the menu). using CWCheat 0.2.1 and the 3.71+ version (which is supposedly "wrong" for 3.80 M33). and the file i used was one file from gamefaqs.com, i don't remember which. renamed it to SLUS_01251-0.gme just to double check, i erased any save data on the psp for FF9. ran the game, went to load a save game (not from CWCheat)... made sure it didn't show anything... then went to CWCheat to load a memory card... when at the screen to save 1, save 2, load 1, load 2, clear 1, clear 2 and exit (i'm not typing out the whole thing out). scroll down to one of the loads, hit the R button (once) so that instead of attempting to load SLUS_01251-0.mcr, it should try to load SLUS_01251-0.gme. it should say "OK ! !" then back out all the way to the game... and try to load a file... should show up. i don't know if the firmware version, CWCheat version, pops/popsloader or even the kind of eboot.pbp matter. but hey, its working for me. |
