Need Final Fantasy IX help
I've got many problems
1) All my attacks heal instead of doing damage 2) It won't let me equip/unequip any abilities 3) Vivi dosn't have magic skills. He has the same skills as Zidine (steal and skill)

What sorta codes did you enter? I generally use codes for codebreaker at CMGSCCC.com - The Official Code Breaker Site and they worked just fine. Of course some cheats mess up the game too. I remember that there was a code which gave you 99 stones but you'd lose that character's trance bar as a result. Best thing to do is go with the 65565 EXP per battle code and a 999 AP per battle code. Choco hot&cold points and high gil are very good too. I wouldn't recommend many other codes than that for FF9. Maybe an all item code and a no random battles code. But that would be it.

i used the cheats that were already on the cwcheat.

Yeah... Look up the game ID, go to the popscheat file or whatever it's called, open as a wordpad file, search up the game ID, delete the current cheats for the game, choose some cheats from cmgsccc.com (that's what I did).
After adding the cheats, I changed the font all to courier new just to make sure it was all the same font. Sounds like a pain, but it's an idea incase it was wanted

the db is plain text so it doesn't support fonts. be carefull to save it to plain txt format or convert it with unix2dos and edit with the notepad: cwcheat will accept dos encoded files.
i'd suggest anyway ultraedit.
