Hi all,
I have install cwcheat (using cw cheat 0.2.1). I did as what I was inx to; copy seplugins to the main root. I can activate the 3 options to ENABLED. But when i go into any game; Jeanne D'arc for PSP , MGS for PSX, nothing happened when i hold SELECT button. What am i doing wrong? I am using 3.71 m33-2. all my games works fine; psp and psx games. I am using sandisk 8gig ms. I just got my psp less than 3 days so I am really quite an idiot here.. Thanks in advance. |

i just checked with my mates and he, too, said better not to upgrade the firmware as it might make the psp unable to play download game. (my psp-slim is mod, in what way, i have no idea).
what's the clock function for anw? and do you have conveniently have the place where i can download 0.1.9 version? Thanks once again. |

if you install dark alex updates you will always be able to play your backup games (talking about downloaded games is aganist rules in this forum).
actually the inverse will happen if you don't update to never custom firmwares: never games will start doing corrupted saves which works only in the currently installed firmware or will stop working correctly, at the end they could even stop starting at all. the function to let you change the cpu/bus clock frequence. the download section has all the versions down to 0.1.7 older version than those listed are still in the site but you need to enter the name manually (the format is always the same) |

First, thanks for the notes on backup and sincere apologies to the moderator..
So you think it's not true that i cant upgrade to higher firmware. Which firmware is most stable now. I dun have the habit of updating to newest updates cos i always think latest version could be 'buggy'. never games = backup? |

actually, it would be legal to talk about downloaded games, if you downloaded them through PSN on either the PS3 or PC onto the PSP... but since there's only a handful of games... it doesn't really help much.
3.71 m33 goes to 3.71 m33-4... installing the -3 and/or -4 updates don't change the firmware, it only patches bugs that he found. 3.72 m33, i think only went to -2... i don't know because i skipped it and went to 3.80 m33 when it came out... now it's on 3.80 m33-5. so the "most stable" would most likely be the last one for the firmware version... in your case, 3.71m33-4... unlike major software, there isn't a whole lot of "QA". Dark_Alex tries his best, but he can't be 100% any version is absolutely bug free. btw... never=newer, he's talking about newer games (and newer custom firmware)... it's a pronouncation thing of some european languages verses english. |

once again, thanks alot for your advice. I am quite new to this and all this whole 'firmware n friends' juggens are confusing me..
I am using psp-slim. i was looking ard and i saw quite a few guide to update firmware; from 3.71 mm33 to even 3.80 m33-5! but they never really say if it's for PSP phat or slim? Would you recommend i update to just 3.71 m33-4 or jump to 3.80 m33-5? before i update, is there anything i should be aware of? again, i m still really worried, the update will either 'brick' my psp or i cant play anymore homebrew game.. thanks again.. |

assuming you follow the instructions CORRECTLY... you shouldn't run in to any problems whether you update to 3.71m33-4 or 3.80m33 (and then to-5)...
but the reality is... even then there's a chance something could go wrong... at least it's less likely than going at it blindly. but if you're worried, you can just stick to going for 3.71m33-4... it's simple and doesn't require a full firmware rewrite. the only difference in 3.80m33 firmware of the phat vs slim, is support for 1.50 kernel. unless there's a shitload of homebrew you want to use that only supports 1.50 kernel, don't worry about it. the only reasons there are "updates" to a firmware, the -2 stuff... is because there were a lot of people complaining and making rumors (among other troubles)... that some of the people doing the CFW decided it'd be a little easier releasing it sooner, rather than later. |
