Adding new cheats

I have a cheat I want to try for Monster Hunter Freedom 2, but it's not loaded into the database file that comes with the program, so I need to load it. I tired copying and pasting it into the database, but when I went into the game to test it out, the program said I was playing Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes. Most of the codes I saw were for Monster Hunter Freedom 2, but there were a few that were for the Naruto game. Also, the cheat I put in wasn't there. What is the specific process for adding a new cheat? And please don't say, "open the cheats.db file in Notepad and add it that way." I've already done that, and it screwed the program up. I ended up deleting everything in my seplugins folder, then putting everything back in straight from the Zip files to make sure everything was reset.

If it helps any, here's the code I'm wanting to add. I've tried putting it in as the last code in the Monster Hunter Freedom 2 US section of the database, but that didn't work.

From what I can tell, that's correct, but putting it in screws up the program. What am I doing wrong?

no that's not correct you are editing an unix encoded file with an application taking blindly every file you trow at it as a windows encoded file. there are two ways to fix this leaving alone cwcheat in game insertion (check wiki) and db editors of sort:
1- get a unix2dos converter and then edit the file with the editor you like. cwcheat can read even dos and mac encoded databases so you don't need to convert back in unix encoding
2- get a decent text editor. an example is ultra edit but there are also free alternatives, normally text editors with some coding capabilities can manage unix encoded files

Can you tell me how to add this cheat using the in-game menu? As in a step-by-step walkthrough? What options do I choose in the menu? What do I input? I've not worked with this sort of coding before, so I have no idea what to do. Comprehensive help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Oh, and if you're one of the people who designed the program like I think you are, you might want to mention that using Notepad to edit the database won't work, because I've seen people being told to open the database in Wordpad or Notepad and add their cheats. In fact, it's the most common thing I've heard when people can't add a cheat.

mentioning it isn't completely right because as i said if you convert the database to dos format then you can use it with either cwcheat and notepad.
