i tried the cheats available on the website in the .db file but even though i enabled everything, i still died LOL. is it a bug?

This code puts your DMW level at Heavenly. If you notice, above the DMW wheel it will say stuff like Normal, High, Sky High, Heavenly(also shows at the bottom of the menu screen).
