New PSP

I'm considering getting a new psp off ebay that has 1.5 firmware on it. I gave up on modifying the PSP I have since I don't have the know how to make a pandora battery, nor do I want to try. So I want to know this before I go spending the money:

If it's just 1.5 firmware, the original that came with, then I can upgrade straight from that to a custom firmware, right? I don't need a pandora battery or anything, I just need the custom firmware upgrades from dark alex or some other place, right? 1.5 is the homebrew-ready firmware correct? I do not want to screw this up again, so I would appreciate a straight answer.

Exactly, you can upgrade to Custom Firmware directly from 1.50 Official Firmware, don't need Pandora or Despertar del Cementerio.

- Upgrade from 1.50 to 3.52 M33
- Update from 3.52 M33 to 3.52 M33-4
- Upgrade from 3.52 M33-4 to 3.90 M33-3

And if I wanted to use cwcheat for say, Monster Hunter Freedom 2, which of those firmwares would be the best best? I see a lot of people using 3.52 mm-3. And is upgrading a complicated process? Could you provide a basic step by step process?

The lastest cwcheat work only on 3.71 M33-3 or higher

actually the only firmwares were i've dropped support for cwcheat are 3.71m33 3.71m33-2, 3.71/3.72 HX series and other 3.7x not coming from dark alex

So it work on 3.52 M33? sorry, wathever it's better 3.90 M33 IMHO

yes 3.52 uses the same files as 3.90. actually it's the 3.80 3.90 firmware using something we could call a compatibility layer (the nid resolver)
