Nothing special, because 0.7e should support all the old modes of 0.7c.

So for most cases the newly patched HDL 0.7e should perform almost exactly like your old 0.7c did.

The only difference is that its emulation of some file operations will be slightly improved, compared to 0.7c, but if (against all odds) any game should in fact be hindered by this, rather than helped (like many games are), then you can always disable the last new mode ('getstat/fileops') for that game.

So much for the mode flags. Some things are done by direct patching instead, like UDMA/MDMA speeds etc, but if you just stick to the old patch commands, all the new options should default out, and leave your HDL in a state matching the old version.

Btw:
I see no reason to see this as any kind of contest between Lonwern and Zer0-X (like some other people seem to do). Since the sources are free, people do have the freedom to make new versions, though they should make it clear, like Lonwern did, that this is not a version from the original author. I sure hope that none of the people directly involved have taken offense at this, as I'm certain that no such offense was intended.

i built this using the hdl_patch source. i just had to convert a few things for it to compile in borland builder. basic source code available if you want. you would need some components to compile this properly, but i'd give up the cpp and header files just so you can look at it. nothing amazing, but i just wanted to do it

nothing much to say about this really except that it IS hdl_patch 0.7c in gui form with the additional UDMA/MDMA patching capabilities. you can select files manually or drag n drop. i'd say the best thing about this is that it uses an .ini file system which auto loads on startup and auto saves on exit that you could send to an extreme noob worrying about which options to choose. just choose the options, exit the app and share the .ini file with a friend.

i've tested this patcher with EVERY option against hdl_patch original output and they are identical. but if you find some bugs, please let me know.

UPDATE!

release 9

now includes ps2-packer internally. no more need for the outside exe file!
besides a few internal bug fixes that is the only and biggest change in this version.

the only thing to add now would be more updates/patches. and for those we must wait patiently for those who can provide them

i would say at this point, unless some bugs pop up (and they just might), this project is done.

i thought i had mentioned this, but apparently i hadn't. i wanna give props to <G> for the idea of including a patcher for an original unpacked, retail, HDL ELF.


THE "APPLY PATCHES TO ORIGINAL HDL" OPTION WILL ONLY WORK ON THE ORIGINAL RETAIL HDL.

DO NOT TRY TO USE IT WITH HDAVANCE OR ANY OTHER RETAIL HACKS OF THE ORIGINAL BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT WORK!
