Microsoft monta un dissipatore aggiuntivo su Xbox 360

Alcuni utenti che disassemblando la propria Xbox 360 da poco tornata dal centro riparazioni, hanno trovato un dissipatore aggiuntivo applicato alla GPU della console. Questo elemento aggiuntivo, atto a tenere più bassa la temperatura della console, è stato per ora trovato solo nelle console riparate, ma è possibile che venga inserito anche su quelle nuove. Che così il problema del famigerato "red ring of death" sia stato risolto una volta per tutte? Staremo a vedere.

eccerto, se riscalda troppo lo si raffredda..ma la domanda è: il problema l'hanno risolto o è sollo un rimedio alla buona? cioè se è due anni che hanno sto problema, credete che fosse solo una questione di dissipatore? uhm

Da qualche giorno, su internet, girano filmati e fotografie riguardanti un nuovo dissipatore installato nella "scatola bianca".

Molti utenti dichiarano che la propria console, tornata dall'assistenza, monta questo nuovo heatskin che dovrebbe risolvere il problema legato al surriscaldamento della GPU.

Non è ancora chiaro se l'aggiunta viene fatta solo quando necessaria o se viene montata su tutte le console.

Da casa Redmond, tramite un portavoce, arrivano solo commenti vaghi che sembrano indirettamente confermare l'upgrade: "migliorare l'hardware di un prodotto è una cosa comune nel nostro campo. Lo si fa per tagliare i costi, per migliorare la qualità o per migliorare le prestazioni. Non siamo soliti rilasciare dettagli riguardo questo genere di operazioni".

Microsoft would not comment directly on this, but said "updating console components is commonplace."

Reports across the web this week have suggested that Microsoft is taking action to improve the cooling system in the Xbox 360 console. Anecdotal evidence has suggested that the failure rate for the Xbox 360 is higher than the three to five percent range often cited by Microsoft. Last month, corporate vice president Peter Moore commented that the 360's failure rate is a "moving target" and that consumers should judge Microsoft on the quality of their customer service.
Well if you believe the photos that have appeared on Max Console and elsewhere, Microsoft is not only fixing consoles with the "red lights of death," but the company is also installing new heat sinks to prevent overheating from damaging consoles in the future. The reports suggest that customers who have sent in their 360s for repair have gotten back consoles with new beefy heat sinks. It's not clear if this is now standard policy, is on a case-by-case basis or if Microsoft is now manufacturing all new 360 consoles with the improved cooling system.

Microsoft was deliberately vague in its response to GameDaily BIZ. The company did not deny the inclusion of new heat sinks, but it wasn't exactly confirmed either.

A Microsoft spokesperson provided us with the following statement: "Regularly updating console components is commonplace within the industry and is a standard aspect of the business for a variety of reasons including cost reduction, improved manufacturability and improved performance. We do not provide details on these updates."

forse si sono stufati di sostituire milioni di console? ci hanno messo 2 anni per montare un dissipatore, ce ne mettereanno altri 2 per cambiare le ventole e altri 4 per la pasta termoconduttiva
